Join Kestrel One and start a Thread

Prerequisites

You need either a valid signup code or an unexpired organization invitation addressed to your email.

Create a personal workspace with a signup code

1. Open /sign-up, enter your email and password, and supply the signup code. A code grants account creation only; it does not add you to another organization.
2. Verify your email from the message Kestrel One sends you.
3. Choose OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter, enter a valid API key, sync the provider catalog, and explicitly approve one default language model.
4. Enter and verify your Fly organization slug and API token.
5. Wait while Kestrel One provisions the default Environment. Progress is saved, and a failed provisioning operation can be retried from onboarding.
6. When the Environment is ready, Kestrel One opens a new Thread.

There is no skip path. The AI and Fly credentials remain masked after saving and can later be replaced in organization settings.

Join an existing organization by invitation

1. Open the invitation sent by your Kestrel One administrator.
2. Sign in, or create a Kestrel One account with the exact email address that received the invitation. This email-bound invitation is the signup authority for that flow; no signup code is used.
3. Review the organization and role, then choose Join organization.
4. Kestrel One activates that organization and opens its welcome screen. Start a standalone Thread when the organization is ready.

An organization invitation grants its stated role in that organization only. It does not automatically add you to private Projects; a Project owner can add you when the work requires it.

Create the first Thread

Create a standalone Thread, choose an available model, and ask a small question. When the response finishes, review the answer and its status. The Thread keeps the history needed to continue later.

Move into a Project

Create or open a Project when the work needs shared members, instructions, files, Knowledge, Apps, an Environment, or Mission Control. Moving a Thread changes the context and access that may shape future turns.

Let a teammate continue

Ask another organization member to open the Thread. For ongoing work with shared files or instructions, move the next task into a Project rather than copying the transcript into a new conversation. The Apps catalog shows which capabilities are available to that work.

Confirm success

Confirm the active organization, Thread identity, approved model, terminal outcome, and teammate access. For Project work, also confirm the selected Environment and context revision.

Using the source instead

A signup code or organization invitation is required only for the Lumi-hosted service. Use Kestrel One source and hosting to clone v0.8.5 and run the repository development path.

If the invitation was sent to another email address, sign out and use the invited account. If an invitation has expired or was revoked, ask an organization owner or admin to send a new one. If you cannot start a Thread because the organization is not ready, contact an owner or admin rather than entering provider credentials in the browser.
